John Stoll (December 1913 – June 1990) was a British Art Director and Production Designer who worked on numerous mainly British films produced in the 1950s and 1960s, and in April 1963 won an Oscar (Academy Award) for Best Art Direction for no lesser a film than Lawrence of Arabia. Besides an impressive list of film credits through to the 1980s, his television work is also notable, being involved with such varied productions as the wonderful story of Elsa the lion, Born Free and the late 1970s reprise of Simon Templar in Return of the Saint. He was also a talented artist.
